Third edition of the Azores Seminar on Sexual and Gender Diversity

On 13 June, AJITER was represented by its leader Ana Ávila at the opening of the 3rd edition of the Azores Sexual and Gender Diversity Seminar, organised by the Azores Association for Family Planning and Sexual and Reproductive Health (APF – Açores) and supported by the “Youth4ORS” project.

In her speech, Ana Ávila highlighted that this is an important issue for our young people and for the challenges facing our society today, and also congratulated APF Açores for applying to the ‘Youth 4 Outermost Regions’ project.

This European support programme, which awarded grants of between €5,000 and €10,000 (per project) to projects aimed at young people, is run by the Startup Europe Regions Network (SERN) in partnership with AJITER in the Azores. It is an initiative that extends to other partnerships and other outermost regions such as Madeira, the Canary Islands, Saint Martin, Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Mayotte and Réunion.

Young people, individually or in teams, and organisations working with young people were invited to propose actions to improve their local communities or regions and promote development – on any subject or topic they consider important.

This is what APF Açores did, and a total of 11 projects were awarded in the Azores, amounting to more than 100,000 euros.

Finally, he reinforced the commitment that AJITER – Associação Juvenil da Ilha Terceira (Terceira Island Youth Association) will continue to work to bring these opportunities to the Azores.
